One Monday morning last summer, my colleague Ben Gilbert came into the office raving about his coffee mug.
Yes. A coffee mug.
He'd been at the beach over the weekend, and he'd filled it with ice and cider. It had been an absolutely sweltering weekend — it gets incredibly, uncomfortably hot in New York City in July and August — but by the end of his day at the beach, his ice was still frozen.
He showed off the mug's locking mechanism, which kept the lid on and prevented any worry about spilling if you threw it in your bag.
I was intrigued.
I had been on the lookout for a coffee mug I could bring to work with me that I didn't have to worry about spilling, either in my bag or as I was being tossed around on the subway. So I went to Amazon and bought two. (One for me and one for my girlfriend!)
We love them, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for such a product.
The stainless steel mug insulates my coffee so well that I have to put it in the freezer with the top off for a few minutes before I leave for work, or it will be too hot to drink on the subway in the morning.
Unlike other vacuum mugs which merely store hot liquid, you can easily sip from the Zojirushi, thanks to its spout.
The mug comes in two sizes — 16 ounces and 12 ounces — and it also has a locking mechanism and a button to prevent the lid from opening up when it's stored in a bag.
It's also extremely easy to clean because the lid comes apart into two pieces:
My only concern with the Zojirushi, like pretty much every thing I have, is losing it. $30 isn't a ton of money, but this isn't some free gas station coffee mug we're talking about.
I'm happy to report that a few months in I've managed to keep it. We'll see how things go for the rest of the winter.
You probably wanna get one for yourself right now, don't you? You can! Right here on Amazon!
