It's not even officially fall, and Starbucks has taken over the season with its Pumpkin Spice Latte and new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. And now the coffee giant has announced it will cap the autumn by opening its largest location yet.
Starbucks' four-story mega-store is scheduled to open this fall in Chicago and will be its largest in the world. The company's new Windy City shop will be located on the Magnificent Mile in the iconic Crate & Barrel building at the corner of North Michigan Avenue and Erie Street. It's set to be the beloved chain's sixth Reserve Roastery, joining those in Milan, New York City, Seattle, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
A representative for Starbucks told Insider that the Chicago Reserve Roastery "will provide customers with an immersive experience dedicated to roasting and brewing small-batch Starbucks Reserve coffee from around the world."
In addition to traditional coffee and hot beverage offerings, the 43,000-square-foot complex will boast a bar with "specialty cocktails developed by local mixologists" and "a full kitchen for making desserts, breads, pizzas and salads from Italian bakery Princi," according to the Chicago Tribune. In total, the Reserve Roastery is expected to employ some 200 people.
"Having mixology there creates a great entertainment space, and being able to look over the city," Starbucks Chief Operating Officer Roz Brewer told the Tribune.
Starbucks has long had a presence in Chicago, as the company's first location outside of the Pacific Northwest opened in the city in October 1987. As such, the brand will be rolling out a handful of tea and mixology beverages exclusive to the new Reserve Roastery that are inspired by Chicago culture and traditions.
The largest Starbucks on the planet is slated to open at the corner of North Michigan Avenue and Erie Street on November 15 at 10 a.m. CST. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
